Vehicle Description Late in 1962, Chrysler caught wind of a new compact, sporty coupe under development by Ford.
Chrysler quickly began development of their own competitor and the Plymouth Barracuda was born in 1964, 16 days before the release of the Mustang.
Arguably the first pony car, the first-generation Barracudas are known for their distinctive rear glass window, the largest ever produced at that time.
This particular example is the last year of the first generation, sporting the 273 cubic-inch Commando engine, the most powerful offered which features an upgraded camshaft, higher compression and an upgraded exhaust over the basic 273.
It has undergone a very extensive rotisserie restoration with less than 200 miles on it since.
The underside looks as clean as the top with fresh paint on the underbody and frame.
